La estructura existente de ladrillos de la residencia se había quedado obsoleta y requería una modernización para satisfacer las necesidades de una familia joven, cuya idea principal era demolerla y reconstruirla.
Uno de los objetivos clave de la renovación fue la de mejorar la conexión entre el interior y los espacios exteriores, incluyendo un jardín compacto y varios balcones.
El proyecto se titula Wabi-Sabi House, siguiendo el principio estético japonés de celebrar la belleza que es imperfecta, no permanente o incompleta.
